The rising popularity of fitness dance classes in London

Dance classes in London have always been popular. From the scandalous dancehalls of the 1920s and 30s to the wartime parties for the troops right through to the clubs of today, dance has always been a popular pastime in the big city, and in order to get full enjoyment from any activity, participants must first learn to do it well. That goes double for dancing, where at least one of the aims is usually to impress potential partners.

Ballroom and tango lessons in London are nothing new, but the nature of the most popular classes is changing slowly. The focus is shifting away from learning to dance for fun or to meet new people, and towards fitness, weight loss, and body toning. It makes sense- dance is an intense activity that burns a lot of calories fast. Professional dancers are well known for slim, muscular physiques.

Fitness dance classes in London also provide an alternative to running, cycling, and other outdoor fitness activities that are easiest and most enjoyable in less crowded, car-free areas. Jogging in an urban environment is often irritating at best and dangerous at worst, especially for busy women who need an evening fitness activity. Runners and cyclists in outlying areas can usually find safe, off-road routes more easily but muggers, careless drivers, and hard pavements all take their toll in the bigger cities.

The gym was the traditional solution, but few people regard an hour in the gym as fun. Many find it difficult to find the motivation to get in there and give themselves a really good workout- particularly when they are surrounded by much fitter, stronger people. Tango lessons are London’s solution. The classes are usually restricted to participants at a certain level, so everyone starts off on an equal footing, and they are much more fun than going to the gym alone.

Mike’s goal was always to open his own gym and in 1998 he started his NYC personal training studio, Anatomically Correct, situated just some distance away from the original Plus One studio in Soho where he initially started the business 10 years ago. Plus One is gone from there, its place taken by an Equinox club with its own team of New York fitness coaches.

Anatomically Correct, located at 142 Wooster Street just a few blocks away from Equinox, differentiates itself from bigger clubs by offering a more personal and focused training environment, just like the original Plus One studio. The value of training and service is superior and this interests a more sophisticated clientele. In addition to this it has the added advantage of being owned and operated by one of the best personal trainers in New York who has a vested interest in the success and fame of his customers. Positive Thinking – Can The Way You Think Affect Your Health Physically

Positive thinking sometimes can be perceived as a lot of “fluff,” but science has been able to prove that there’s more to it than just the “placebo effect.” In fact, this article answers the question, “How to be Positive Automatically” because it discusses one of the best benefits of positive thinking that makes maintaining positive attitude routine.

BECOMING ADDICTED TO POSITIVE THOUGHTS: Remember when you were upset as a kid and inevitably Mom would try to change your attitude by saying, “Everything’s going to be alright?” Whether Mom knew about the power of positive thinking or not, those words were the best thing for her to say at the moment. Today, if we can be that “Mom figure” to ourselves and use positive thoughts and positive phrases like, “Everything’s going to be alright,” then we are actually using a very old “home remedy” to ignite different biological reactions within our bodies.

So, what exactly does that mean? It means that science has discovered that you can use the power of positive thinking for maintaining positive attitude and actually get “hooked” or “addicted” to it on a biological level.

One way that this happens is that your mind puts out chemicals that coincide with your emotions. So, when you’re using positive thoughts to stay happy, your brain is actually flooding your body with “happy” chemicals. The interesting thing that occurs in this regard, though, is that your body may not be equipped to handle all the happy chemicals “coming down the pipe” if you’ve been depressed for a long time and are new to using the power of positive thinking to your advantage. So, your body has to make physical changes to adapt to the new flow of happy chemicals. Can it do this? Yes!

In fact, one of the best benefits of positive thinking is that as you get better and better at maintaining positive attitude, you are consistently putting out “happy” chemicals and your body produces more and more cell receptors – or portals – to receive the new flood of chemicals, and this is pretty exciting news if you need motivation to change your attitude. Why? Because the more positive you become mentally, the more “happy chemicals” your body prepares to receive and craves, so your body helps you stay happy in order to get its “fix” of happy chemicals. This is where you can say attitude is contagious because your body wants more “happy juice” so your mind puts out more “happy chemicals” to satisfy the “cravings” of your body for “happy juice” so you don’t have to think about “how to be positive” anymore. You’re on auto pilot!

POSITIVE THINKING CREATES A “SMARTER” BRAIN: Positive thinking also has a positive impact on how the brain itself functions. Research in the field of positive psychology has shown that when a brain is kept positive by maintaining positive attitude, it actually creates more neural pathways faster and has an increased ability to problem solve and “think better.” In other words, practicing the power of positive thinking and maintaining positive attitude are like feeding your brain “super food” to help it thrive.

So, can positive thinking affect your health in a positive way? Yes. In fact, when you’re super charging your brain with positive thoughts, it runs better and since it’s the central computer to your body, it floods your body with positive chemicals that keep you healthy and happy.

Getting Past the Challenges to Better Fitness

Hitting a brick wall is not something anyone wants to hit when beginning a new fitness routine. This can happen in any way but one of the major ones is not being able to find time for exercise. Yet if you want better health, you know that it’s necessary to find a way to get beyond these barriers. Overcoming these obstacles is important and we are here to help.

Some people have to deal with the weather as a serious obstacle to their fitness goals. Severe winter weather can make it impossible to either exercise outside or to even drive to the gym. Then, by the time spring comes along, you’ve already forgotten about your exercise program. You can easily overcome this problem by having exercises you can do at home. It’s always good to have a routine that you can do at home because even though you may prefer exercising at the gym or outside, it’s not always practical to go out. This can be using a mat for calisthenics, yoga, or push-ups, or weights. Eventually, plateaus happen to everyone who participates in any type of exercise. The best approach to this is to change your routine, even if it’s only in minor ways. Exercising your muscles in a different manner will often get you past your limitations. Another way to look at it is that even if you are stuck at a certain level, you’re still getting benefits from exercising regularly.

There are a multitude of activities that can improve your overall fitness, you must like something. Even a simple dance around the living room with the kids can be enough to increase your overall fitness if done regularly. Once you’ve discovered your favorite activity it won’t seem like you are exercising and it won’t feel like it either you’ll simply be having fun and getting fit.

It is fairly easy to find reasons for not starting or sticking with an exercise routine. However, if you are honest with yourself, you will see that these reasons are really just excuses. If you put your mind to it, you can find an exercise program that is right for you, no matter what particular challenges you might have. You can reach your goals and stick with a fitness routine by using the tips just discussed.
